The General Directorate of Traffic Monday hosted the graduation ceremony of the first sign language course for officers.
The course was attended by 12 officers from the directorate, according to a tweet by the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
Brig Mohamed Abdullah al-Shahwani, acting Traffic director-general; Lt-Col Nayef Mohamed al-Mannai, acting director of the Police Officers Institute; and Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani al-Thani, vice-chairman of Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs (QSRSN), attended the ceremony.
The course comes within the "MoI's framework to enhance the capabilities of its human cadre to communicate with all segments of society and ensure easy access to i's services for people with hearing and speech disabilities", the ministry said.
At the end of the ceremony, Brig al-Shahwani honoured the employees of QSRSN and Sheikh Dr Khalid. He also presented certificates to the officers who completed the course.
