Anti-Smoking Society Qatar (ASSQ) recently marked International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a variety of programmes. An interschool painting competition, painting exhibition, webinar and counseling sessions were the major highlights of the programme.
More than 200 students represented 15 Indian schools in the interschool competition. The competition was held in three categories. The theme for the competition was ‘United for a Drug Free Society.’ The paintings were evaluated by an expert panel of judges including; Sanjay Chapolkar (India), Shahnas CK (UAE), Salim Abdulla, Farhan Hameed and Jojin Mathew (Qatar).    
Dr Muhammedunni Olakara, global chairman; Dr M P Hassan Kunhi, chairman; Rajani Murthi, head of medical assistance and domestic workers welfare at Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF); Jose Philip, CEO Ceprtoec; Jeby K John, Managing Director Qatar Tec; Dr M P Shafi Haji, managing director MP Traders; and Midhulaj Najmudheen, sales and marketing manager at Al Abeer Medical Centre; spoke at the webinar which was organised in association with ICBF.
Dr Bindu Salim handled an awareness session on mental stress and drug abuse while Muhammed Yasir shared his views on habit addiction. Dr Amanulla Vadakkangara welcomed the gathering. Rashad Mubarak conducted the event.
