Qatar judoka Ayoub El-Idrissi
Qatar judoka Ayoub El-Idrissi qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Tuesday. The 26-year-old El-Idrissi, who finished 5th in the 18th Asian Games Jakarta 2018, secured a continental quota for the games by earning 699 points on the World Judo Tour. The International Judo Federation published the official list of athletes qualified for the Games. The qualification period that was initially set to end in June 2020, was extended to June 2021, finishing immediately after the World Judo Championships Hungary 2021. For three years athletes from the five continents, representing 110 nations, including Japan as the host nation, have competed to earn the right to compete on the Olympic stage.
