HE the Secretary-General of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), ambassador Ali bin Hassan al-Hammadi, and the Chief of the Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Qatar, Iman Younis Ereiqat, discussed means of bolstering the co-operation between QRCS and the UN organisation, and a number of issues of common concern.
During a meeting between the sides, al-Hammadi welcomed a proposal to sign a memorandum of snderstanding (MoU) between Qatar Red Crescent and the Mission of the International Organisation for Migration which aims to facilitate the co-operation and co-ordination and acquaint the employees of Qatar Red Crescent with international expertise; given the special attention QRCS attaches to migration and expat labor issues.
Al-Hammadi noted that QRCS issued the "Doha Dialogue on Migration" initiative; managed the Human Care Center and Quarantine Center in Mekaines; implemented development projects in co-operation with resident communities to promote peace and social integration; in addition to preparing several legal and diplomatic publications on the rights of migrants from the perspective of the International Red Cross and the Red Crescent Movement.
For her part, Ereiqat said that the IOM looks forward to co-operating with QRCS as a key partner in the humanitarian field. (QNA)
