Carrefour Qatar said it organised two blood donation drives for its employees, which saw a total of 50 people participating.
One drive was held at the brand’s headquarters in Al Dafna while the other took place at its employees’ accommodation in Al Mansoura.
The successful initiative — organised as part of Carrefour’s corporate social responsibility activities — was run in partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and led by a team of HMC medical professionals who operated a fully equipped mobile donation unit for donors, Carrefour Qatar said in a press statement.
The campaign’s goal was to increase community awareness around the importance of blood donations while encouraging individuals to support others in need by donating blood, the statement noted.
In light of Covid-19, stringent measures were put in place throughout the initiative to ensure the highest safety of both donors and recipients.
Teams from Qatar Blood Services also stepped up the measures by implementing mandatory pre-screening processes such as following social distancing practices between donors, wearing of face masks, enhanced disinfecting of the venue and providing hand sanitiser for use before entering and throughout the appointment.
"Carrefour will continue to demonstrate its commitment to the local communities by positively contributing to a wide range of initiatives," the statement added.
