Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Tajikistan Football Federation (TFF) signed a co-operation agreement in Dushanbe on Monday. The signing ceremony was witnessed by QFA president HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani and Rustam Emomali, President of TFF and Dushanbe mayor.
Dignitaries from both federations attended the signing ceremony including QFA and AFC Vice President and FIFA Council Member Saoud al-Mohannadi, CEO of president office Ali Daoud and Khurshed Mirzo, TFF Vice President. Several key areas such as technical and professional exchanges, national teams, exchange of expertise (including coach education and youth development), game development, player development, and referee development will represent the agreement core focus.
The QFA President, Sheikh Hamad commented: “The official signing of the agreement with TFF is a very positive step towards football development, especially since both our federations enjoy a close relationship. This agreement will pave the way for further strengthening of both our federations relations and will play a major role in developing football in both our countries.”
TFF President Emomali commended Qatar and QFA for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and also for winning the AFC Asian Cup 2019. The agreement will run for five years, and it will see exchange of knowledge and experiences, observation and secondment programmes, capacity building, training camps, and friendly matches among other things.

QFA and UFA extend MoU
Meanwhile, Qatar Football Associations (QFA) and Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA), signed an extension and addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to include matters related to football integrity and event security in Tashkent.
The MoU was signed by Sheikh Hamad and UFA’s chief Abdulsalom Aziziov. Both presidents stressed the importance of the MoU and how it had been the catalyst for many collaborations over the past four years. They also pledged to continue the successful collaboration in order to continue the development of football in Qatar and Uzbekistan.
Sheikh Hamad emphasised the long-standing relationship that connects both QFA and UFA. “I am very happy to be here today to sign this agreement and to extend our strong relationship. For the past few years, the MoU has been activated many times and both federations have benefited immensely. However, I would like to invite UFA to collaborate even further and would like to invite UFA to use all Qatar football and QFA facilities.”
The new addendum to the agreement comes fittingly with the latest push by football federations to tackle the menace of match-fixing and corruption in football. UFA has been actively involved in promoting football integrity for the past few years.
Azizov pointed out the importance of football development especially with regards to player development which in turn will benefit national teams. “I appreciate immensely what QFA has been doing in the past few years with the MoU activation. I look forward to working with QFA in the near future to try to capitalise on opportunities that this MoU offers both our federations.” Azizov added “We are delighted to work closely together with QFA on issues related to football integrity and sports security.”
