The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)'s General Cleanliness Department, in co-ordination with the municipalities concerned and related security departments, have removed large quantities of sand that had accumulated on roads as well as trees that had fallen due to the impact of strong winds. The country has been experiencing a spell of northwesterly winds and blowing dust/sand over the past few days. The MME said special attention was paid to key areas and roads around the country to ensure smooth traffic circulation during the cleanup operations. In particular, work targeted the Sealine area, Al Rayyan and Al Sheehaniya due to the large quantities of accumulated sand in some places there along with a number of trees in certain areas. The public can call 184 to report any cases of sand accumulation or fallen trees.
