A team of inspectors from the Health Control Department in Doha Municipality inspected the stores of a food supplier in the Industrial Area and seized and destroyed rotten tomatoes, strawberries and other foodstuff unsuitable for human consumption.
A report was issued against the company in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 8 of 1990 regarding the regulation of human food control. Necessary legal measures are also being taken.
The action was in immediate response to a note posted on Twitter about a person receiving rotten tomatoes through a delivery company, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), explained in a statement on Thursday. This was as a result of poor storage, sorting and transportation.
The delivery company officials have been alerted to the need to ensure the validity of the products received by them before delivering to customers.
The MME said it is keen to follow up on the observations and complaints of the public and take necessary action. The press statement noted that health control departments in all municipalities carry out continuous inspection campaigns on all food establishments and take legal measures against violators, in order to preserve the health and safety of consumers.
