Sanjeev Gupta won the Qatar Golf Lovers (QGL) tournament held at the Doha Golf Club last weekend. QGL organised its 202nd tournament in collaboration with Paws Rescue Qatar, a not-for-profit animal shelter and animal rescue organisation dedicated to providing a safe haven for homeless and rescued animals.
Twenty eight golfers, led by Capt. Mohan Atla (Defence Attache at the Indian embassy) participated in a Stroke play Format in blustery and windy conditions as part of the PAWS 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament, where 10 other golf societies from Qatar are also participating this week to contribute to a noble and worthy cause.
Akshay Randeva fought hard to put up a daunting net score of 31 on the leaderboard, but he could not stop the onslaught from the eventual champion Sanjeev Gupta, who played flawless golf to take away the honours with a winning net score of 31 on countback, while also carding the best gross score of 36.
Due to prevailing Covid restrictions, the presentation ceremony had to be deferred to the next tournament. QGL has been hosting monthly tournaments uninterrupted for over 20 years. QGL plans to host a Summer Eclectic Tournament which will run from Mid-June to End-August 2021, details of which will be available soon on www.myqgl.com.
