MES Indian School (MESIS), Abu Hamour Branch, recently celebrated World Environment Day with various activities.
The programme was organised in line with the theme of ‘Ecosystem Restoration’.
The programme began with prayer by Mohamed Yahya (VIII/B), followed by thought for the day presented by Vedanshi Singh (VI/B).
Laiqa Maryam (VII/C) sung the famous song of Michael Jackson reminding everyone to make Earth a better place to live.
Navaneedh Naveen (VI/B) made a PowerPoint presentation to show the possibilities of growing plants inside and outside of homes in Qatar.
A classical dance performance by Lakshmi Priya (VI/C) was relevant to the situation.
Shihabuddin (IV/B) presented a mono act to convey the importance of planting trees. Mohamed Aman (I/A) explained how to prepare micro-greens and its uses.
Falaqul Thahira (VIII/B) made a PowerPoint presentation on sustainable development goals (SDG), reiterating the importance of SDGs like no poverty, no pollution etc.
In connection with the day, students were given assignments too.
Grades I, II, and III were asked to prepare micro-greens at home. Grades IV, V, and VI were given the assignment of ‘Best out of Waste’. Classes VII and VIII prepared PowerPoint presentations on various SDGs.
“We should pledge to protect the co-existence of plants and all animals on Earth and to make it happier place to live in”, said principal Dr Mohamed Haneef in his message.
The celebrations were co-ordinated by Hasmiya Furkan, along with other activity co-ordinators and academic co-ordinators. The school thanked parents for their support on the occasion.
