The region’s leading retailer LuLu Hypermarket yesterday launched the first ever Georgian Food Festival in Qatar. The weeklong event, in co-operation with the Embassy of Georgia in Qatar, features best quality food products of Georgian origin.
Georgian ambassador Nikoloz Revazishvili inaugurated the festival at Lulu Hypermarket, Al Messila Wednesday (June 9) in the presence of LuLu Group director Dr Mohamed Althaf, and dignitaries from the Central Municipal Council, Ministries, and other sectors.
A wide variety of Georgian food and food products such as grocery food, meat and meat products, fruits and vegetables and will be available at all Lulu Hypermarket outlets during the festival.
Major brands of Georgian grocery lines namely Chikori, Georgias Natural, Gurieli, Kind & Noble, Meama, Nena, Bakhmaro & Nabeghlavi and Geo Natura etc are available at all LuLu stores at great discounts, a statement said.
Georgia has the unique attribute of being home to a diverse array of food production and a rich assortment of the related economic sectors. Agriculture plays an important role in Georgia’s economy and continues to be the driving force in gaining worldwide prominence and bringing in revenue.
“I am very honoured and pleased as we are launching the Georgian Food Festival 2021 in LuLu Hypermarkets. I would like extend my deep gratitude to Dr Mohamed Althaf for his excellent support for this project; without you this would not have happened,” Revazishvili said.
He said that festival is very special for the embassy because it provides great support in promoting Georgian products in Qatar.
He thanked LuLu teams and embassy officials for their active participation to hold the festival.
Dr Althaf said: “I believe this is possibly the first Georgian Food Festival in the Mena region and this would not have been possible without the active involvement the ambassador of Georgia to Qatar.”
“We in Qatar realises that Georgia has got a lot more to offer for us now and it has got excellent geography and biodiversity and the food products are very good,” he said.
Dr Althaf said LuLu wants to further explore all the opportunities available in Georgia, with its excellent connectivity to Qatar and with the all favourable trade agreements that Georgia has with the countries in the GCC and the European Union.
