UCC Holding, a leading contracting and construction company in Qatar, continued to focus on its environmental commitment as an ongoing priority by hosting a special 'Ecosystem Restoration' event on World Environment Day on June 5.
The HSE department at UCC Holding took ownership of the initiative with the participation of several affiliates, sister companies and different project sites and labour camps.
The event involved tree planting and educational awareness content on social media, according to a press statement.
This year, UCC Holding raised the slogan “I am part of the solution” to signal its commitment to environmental protection and encourage others to take on the responsibility as well.
The event was also registered on the Global Map as a virtual gathering where people from all over the world tuned in support and celebrated World Environment Day.
Ramez Al-Khayyat, managing director and vice-chairman of UCC Holding, said: “It is a great pleasure to witness our employees and our partners put together such an environment-positive event.
This was another opportunity for us to reinforce our commitment to sustainable practices and minimising our carbon footprint.
"We stand by our promise to take proactive measures to protect the environment and to work hand in hand for a greener life here in Qatar.
This is crucial for us today and for future generations yet to come.”
This event is an "embodiment of UCC Holding’s Environment and Sustainability Policy, which solidifies its commitment to the protection, prevention and enhancement of the environment it operates in, the statement adds.
The company has an Environmental Management System in place that applies to all operations provided by its permanent offices and its construction activities.
