The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Saturday marked World Environment Day by highlighting its contributions towards afforestation and environmental sustainability.
A video tweeted by Ashghal featured its efforts to afforest more areas in Qatar by creating parks and green spaces. Also, the authority highlighted its contributions to the 'One Million Trees' and ‘Qatar Beautification and Our Kids Planting Trees’ campaigns that have evoked a good response across the country.

The video also sheds light on Ashghal’s use of recycled materials and how these are sorted and stored to ensure quality, while setting controls for producing recycled materials to ensure a stable level of quality, encouraging investors in the field and providing a reference in the field of recycling to ensure continuous development in line with the growing experience in this area.

Further, the video sheds light on the recycling of reclaimed asphalt, crumb rubber produced from tires, demolition and excavation waste, wadi aggregate and steel slag, while also explaining the methods of manufacturing recycled materials.
It stresses Ashghal’s commitment to eco-friendly projects by showcasing the Mobile Unit for Air Quality Control and Air Emission Monitoring, which has been designed to assess air quality within the scope of the authority’s projects and to monitor any emissions in order to reduce them and their negative impact on the environment that may affect the health of workers.
Also, the video shows the Material Research Lab and Environmental Research Lab introduced by Ashghal to implement quality-control measures at the authority’s various infrastructure and building projects.
The wastewater treatment mechanism of Ashghal, along with the the reclamation and rehabilitation project in Al Karaana Lagoon, is also featured in the video.
