All of you are ambassadors of India and should carry the democratic and administrative values,” said chief guest Jaiprakash Chaturvedi, regional officer at Delhi West CBSE, as he addressed the virtual gathering of all stakeholders of BPS during the recently held investiture ceremony for the academic year 2021-22.
The ceremony was also attended by management members – Chairman Gope Shahani and Vice Chairperson Maria Thomas, directors – Dr Mohan Thomas, C V Rappai, and Lukose K Chacko, management representatives of the board, and well-wishers.
As many as 25 selected students of Grade-XII and four House captains and four vice captains received their badges. Thirty students from Grade-XI, 180 student council members, House masters and mistresses and class monitors from Grades IX-XII were also acknowledged through a slide show. Rushali Nair of Grade-XI led the gathering in the school prayer.
Principal A P Sharma addressed the audience, led the swearing in and handed over the responsibilities to all student representatives. The principal encouraged all new young leaders to help all and create a chain reaction of happiness. Parents honoured their wards by badging them. This was followed by a speech of gratitude, given by both the Head Boy Rana Maihar Pratap Singh, and Head Girl Neha Elsa Thomas. Congratulating the new leaders, Chairman Gope Shahani commented: “This is a great opportunity for all young leaders. Encourage all and lead from the front so that you carry our flag high.”
Awardees of the merit scholarships for outstanding academic performance in Grade-XI, for the academic year 2020-21, were also honoured. Aditya Gupta received Ghanshyam Das Birla Memorial Award for being the topper in Grade-XI science stream. He received a merit scholarship of QR3, 000. Sarla Birla Memorial Award went to Rana Maihar Singh, the present head boy and second topper in Grade-XI science stream. He received the merit scholarship of QR3, 000.
Aditya Birla Memorial Award went to Reeva P Shah, the present speaker of student council and the topper in Grade-XI commerce stream. She received the scholarship of QR3, 000. Sarla Birla Memorial Award went to Mohammed Sahal, the second topper in Grade-XI commerce stream. He also received the scholarship of QR3, 000.
The top two students in humanities batch were awarded as well. Birla Public School Management Award for the topper in humanities went to Leo Abu Kurien. He received the scholarship of QR3, 000. Birla Public School Management Award for the second topper in humanities went to Jui Baliga along with the scholarship of QR3, 000.
The school dance team entertained the gathering with a thematic performance. The school choir inspired all with the musical rendering of ‘We shall overcome’. Reeva P Shah, newly appointed speaker of Student Council, concluded the function with the vote of thanks.
