More than 130 companies from around the world have now registered in Qatar Free Zones (QFZ), pursuing licensed projects worth more than QR8bn, according to the QFZ Authority (QFZA).
This was disclosed by QFZA, which Thursday entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the St Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.
The MoU will help strengthen bilateral relations by showcasing Qatar’s value proposition and opening up opportunities for collaboration and growth between QFZA’s investors and the chamber’s members, in addition to knowledge sharing and offering support to companies.
The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the 24th edition of St Petersburg International Economic Forum 2021. QFZA is participating in the event as part of Qatar’s official delegation, and QFZA’s delegation is led by HE Ahmad al-Sayed, Minister of State and chairman of QFZA.
The attendees visited QFZA’s booth at the Qatar Pavilion in the presence of senior officials of Qatar including HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and their Russian counterparts including Yuri Borisov, Deputy Prime Minister.
Al-Sayed spoke at a panel on business dialogues between the two countries, emphasising that Qatar is one of Russia’s leading partners in the region.
He highlighted the free zones’ integral role in enabling companies to capture the many opportunities presented by Qatar’s knowledge-based economy and advanced technology and logistical infrastructure.
QFZA’s booth showcases investment opportunities at Qatar's free zones for Russian and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) companies looking to expand internationally.
