The Cabinet Wednesday approved a draft law regulating unmanned aircraft. The draft law has been prepared to regulate all activities related to drones in order to maintain the security and safety of air navigation in the country, and protect lives and property.
The legislation is also meant to "ensure the optimal use of drones, in accordance with the best international standards and practices, reduce risks arising from their operation, and define the responsibilities of the authorities concerned in this regard, and the regulation of the use of drones by various authorities", according to a report by Qatar News Agency on Wednesday.
This came at the Cabinet's regular meeting chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa bin Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi issued a statement giving the details of the proceedings.
The Cabinet approved a draft decision of HE the Minister of Interior defining the medical examination and the rules and levels of medical fitness for members of private security services companies.
The draft decision was prepared within the framework of issuing executive decisions for the provisions of Law No 19 of 2009 Regulating the Provision of Private Security Services 19/2009.
Also approved was the participation of the National Tourism Council in: United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) and the Australian Federation of Travel Agents Limited (AFTA).
The Council of Ministers reviewed the following two issues and took the appropriate decision: Sixth annual report on the results of the work of the National Explosives Commission for the period from December1 - 31, 2020. Report (49) on the results of the work of the National Committee for the Prohibition of Weapons during the period from August 1 - 30, 2021.
Covid measures to continue
At the beginning of its meeting on Wednesday, the Cabinet was briefed by HE the Minister of Public Health on the latest developments regarding the efforts made to curb Covid-19. The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures taken to combat the pandemic.
