The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) announced that the Qatari beach volleyball team comprising Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, has made a big leap in the international standings being placed fourth overall with 5,520 points behind Norway, Russia, and Brazil. The Qatari duo on Sunday had claimed the silver medal in the 4-star Sochi World Tour Championship which concluded in Russia with the participation of 62 teams from 27 countries. Qatar lost the final 1-2 to Poland. The Qatari pair qualified for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo, where they will be ranked third. The Qatari team had already won the gold medal for the third round of the Cancun World Championship, which concluded in Mexico at the beginning of this month. The team also won the silver in the first and second rounds of it. (QNA)
