HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi has issued Ministerial Decision No 20 for 2021 regarding the annual school calendar for the 2021-22 academic year.
According to the decision, staff members will return to schools on August 16, followed by the second-round examinations for the 2020-21 academic year for grades 1-12 (both day and adult education), which will be held between August 18 and 26.
The first day of the new academic year (2021-22) for students will be August 29, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education said in a statement on Sunday.
The half-year school break will be from December 19 to 30, and the second semester will start on January 2, 2022.
There will also be a short break from March 13 to 17, 2022, and schools will reopen on March 20.
The 2022-23 academic year will start on August 16, 2022, when students will go back to school, while employees will have to return to work on August 14.
Other important dates in the 2021-22 annual school calendar include the following: midterm first semester examinations for grades 1-11 (day) from October 10 to 19; end-of-term first semester exams for grades 10, 11 and 12 (day/adult education) from December 1 to 12; end-of-term first semester exams for grades 1-9 (day/adult education) from December 1 to 9; first semester second round exams for grades 1-11 (day/adult education) from January 18 to 27, 2022; second semester midterm exams for grades 10 and 11 (day) from March 1 to 10, 2022; second semester midterm exams for grades 1-9 (day) from March 2 to 10, 2022; exams at the end of the second semester for grades 10, 11 and 12 (day/adult education) from May 29 to June 9, 2022; exams at the end of the second semester for grades 1-9 (day/adult education) from May 31 to June 8, 2022; school staff leave from June 19 to August 11, 2022; and second round exams for grades 1-12 (day/adult education) from June 28 to July 6, 2022.
