Students and other young people in Qatar and around the world are being invited to apply to the inaugural Doha Debates’ Ambassador Programme, a solutions-focused initiative that aims to empower a new generation of changemakers with the knowledge, tools, and relationships to bring positive change to their communities.
Doha Debates, a production of Qatar Foundation (QF), has announced that its first class of ambassadors will engage with global experts, influential voices and community leaders to explore topics related to pressing global challenges.
The participants will gain practical communication, inquiry, and debate skills through these exchanges, a press statement notes.
The select cohort of 30 to 40 young leaders will be committed to the exploration and growth necessary to apply global knowledge to local solutions.
The ambassadors will come from all over the world, will value diversity and intellectual curiosity, and will share their experiences and enthusiasm for solving global problems on a local level.
The programme commences in August with weekly virtual discussions that will lead up to a collaborative project focused on areas of shared interests.
It culminates in December, when ambassadors will share their projects and be invited to participate in Doha Debates’ final debate of the year.
The Ambassador Programme will be facilitated in partnership with Shared_Studios, a global, purpose-driven start-up forging connections that build toward a more inclusive and collaborative world.
Doha Debates managing director Amjad Atallah said: "We're enormously excited about the launch of the Doha Debates Ambassador Programme.”
“Doha Debates is all about enlightening, engaging, and empowering young people,” he said. “The Doha Debates Ambassador Programme takes that mission to a new level, equipping a select group of extraordinary future leaders from Qatar and around the world to be change-making trailblazers.”
“We're grateful to Qatar Foundation and our Shared_Studios partners for their support of this first-of-its-kind initiative,” he added.
The online application for the inaugural Doha Debates Ambassador Programme is open to people who will be aged between 17 and 24 years on September 1.
Applications will be accepted through 11.59pm on June 11 in applicants’ local time zone.
