The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has announced that admissions for Fall 2021-2022 will be open to high school certificate holders from June 6 to July 27.
Qatari citizens and those born to Qatari mothers who meet the admission requirements can apply online to enrol in any of the academic programmes offered by CCQ, according to a press statement.
Maryam al-Ryami, head of the Admission and Registration Department, asserted that the College is fully prepared to receive applications from those willing to join any of its various programmes that range from associate to bachelor’s degree programmes.
She clarified that applicants should pass the Accuplacer test with a score of 150 or the IELTS with a score of 3. After passing the placement test, they need to hand in the required documents at the Lusail campus (male or female) during the admission timeline while considering all the precautionary measures in place to limit the spread of Covid-19.
Al-Ryami said, “The Associate of Business Administration (hybrid format), which is now taught in Arabic only, is a highly popular programme due to its flexibility that allows students to continue their education without affecting their professional or family responsibilities. While the College opens admissions for only 120 applicants in an academic year (equally divided between male and female students), more than 800 applicants expressed their interest in the programme in the first year alone.”
She added that those interested in studying this degree must pass Level 2 of the English Language Centre’s Foundation Programme that CCQ offers, or pass IELTS with a score of 4.5. If an applicant is a CCQ student wishing to transfer from another programme, s/he should hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.
Meanwhile, CCQ has been attracting College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) diploma graduates to pursue their BSc degrees in one of the vital scientific disciplines offered by CCQ, specifically the engineering as well as cyber and network security majors, in order to fulfil the needs of the evolving job market. With more than 160 applicants so far, CNA-Q diploma graduates are granted direct admission to CCQ relevant programmes until July 27, the statement notes.
CCQ and CNA-Q signed an MoU in 2020 to establish strategic co-operation between the two institutions. This co-operation comes as part of the two institutions’ commitment towards contributing to the actualisation of Qatar National Vision 2030, specifically the human development pillar. According to the agreement, CNA-Q diploma graduates can pursue their BSc degrees at CCQ as of Fall 2021-2022 as follows:
* Mechanical Engineering Technology (Industrial Maintenance) diploma holders can study BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
* Graduates of Electrical Engineering Technology or Telecommunications and Network Engineering Technology can study BS in Electrical Engineering Technology.
* CCQ’s BS in Cyber & Network Security welcomes graduates of CNA-Q’s Information Technology (Hardware), Information Technology (Software) or Information Technology - Network and Systems Administration.
