HE Sheikh Mohamed believed that the Libyan people aspire today for stability, ending the state of war and maintaining the unity of Libya away from all foreign interventions, stressing that Qatar will always support these efforts and the brothers in Libya.
He said he looked forward for the Libyan officials to visit Qatar to discuss the various opportunities for co-operation that lay the foundation for the future of Libya, expressing his wishes for Libya to be a prosperous country.
For her part, the Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the role of Qatar and its continuous stances in supporting the Libyans since the beginning of the Libyan revolution in 2011, and went on to thank Qatar for the support of His Highness the Amir, the government and the people to the Presidential Council and the government of national unity since the first days, and commended the role of Qatar in supporting the Libyan political dialogue and its outputs.
"Within the framework of enhancing joint cooperation between our two countries and in light of the presence of many agreements and memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries in various fields, we called for the formation of joint committees from the two parties to reevaluate, study, update and activate them in line with the current situation and in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples," she said.
El Mangoush said that both countries have many frameworks and areas to enhance the cooperation, so Libya emphasised during the talks to benefit from the experience of Qatar in supporting the efforts of the National Unity Government in development, construction and development in various fields and activating the agreements between the two countries.
She pointed out that Libya also value the understandings of specialists in the field of electricity and look forward to putting them into practice as soon as possible, adding that Libya is looking for Qatari policy and diplomacy that serves and supports the Libyan national consensus and enhances its stability.
El Mangoush affirmed the consistency of the official positions of Libya with the Security Council resolutions related to Libya and the international determination in particular that corresponds to the will of the Libyan authorities to achieve stability, and Libya looks forward to Qatar's support for this position internationally.
She appreciated Qatar's role in achieving the Gulf reconciliation and the wisdom and flexibility it showed in overcoming the crisis, and went on saying, that this is not strange for Qatari diplomacy, as well as its role in mediating between some Arab countries and Turkey and contributing with Kuwait to resolving the crisis with Iran.
She also welcomed the steps of the Qatari-Egyptian rapprochement, adding that there is no doubt that the interest of Libya and the region "requires us to work in harmony that serves our fateful causes, and perhaps the recent aggression against the Palestinian people confirms the unity of all Arab peoples, and affirms our need to activate the mechanisms of joint Arab action".
El Mangoush expressed her hope for the return of the Qatari diplomatic mission accredited from Tunisia to Libya, noting that this matter is important for strengthening relations and developing various areas of co-operation.
