The government of the Kingdom of Spain welcomed the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which was brokered by Qatar, Egypt, the United States, Jordan and the United Nations.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Spain and the European Union have worked with their regional partners during the conflict to de-escalate the escalation.

Thirty years after Madrid Middle East Peace Conference, this latest escalation came to emphasise that the end of violence will only be achieved through a political process based on the principle of the two-state solution Israel and Palestine, the statement said.

The political process based on the principle of the two-state solution would preserve people's lives and regional peace, the statement added.
