Mondrian Doha, managed by leading international lifestyle hospitality group sbe, has announced the appointment of Vasileios Oikonomopoulos as the new general manager of the hotel.
Vasileios will oversee all the hotel’s operations and lead the execution of the long-term strategy focused on diversifying Mondrian’s offer and clientele, engage with the leadership team at Mondrian Doha to revive its partnership strategy, and reaffirm the property’s positioning as one of the leading lifestyle hotels in the Middle East and globally, according to a press statement.
Chadi Farhat, chief operating officer, sbe, said: “We are pleased to welcome Vasileios as the new general manager of Mondrian Doha. His incredible energy, entrepreneurial spirit and extensive experience in the world’s leading hospitality groups will add tremendous value to Mondrian’s team.”
Vasileios added, “I am delighted to start on a new journey in such a magnificent property as Mondrian Doha. Having been part of the opening of Mondrian Seoul Itaewon, I have already had a chance to immerse myself in Mondrian’s creative, bold and disruptive spirit; I am determined to continue supporting the successful development of Mondrian’s brand in the Middle East and worldwide, believing in the unique proposition our brand represents."
Prior to joining Mondrian Doha, Vasileios successfully launched the first Mondrian hotel in Asia – Mondrian Seoul Itaewon, named as the ‘Most Exciting Hotel Opening in Seoul’.
Previously, he spent seven years with Shangri-La Group, holding different positions: leading hotel operations in Malaysia and Sri Lanka, regional Food & Beverage management across multiple properties in the Middle East region, and as a corporate director of Hotel Openings based in Hong Kong.
Vasileios acquired a hands-on understanding of the Middle East hospitality by working with leading Accor properties in Cairo and Dubai as director of Food & Beverage. Within Accor group, he also held the position of corporate director between 2007 and 2008.
