* 58,530kg of honey produced in Qatar since start of project until end of 2020
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Department of Agricultural Affairs, on Thursday participated in the celebration of World Bee Day, organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).
The celebration came within the framework to protect and preserve bees and held under the slogan “Committed to Protecting Bees: Rebuilding Better for the Sake of Bees”, a MME statement said.
The ministry launched the national honey bee project with the participation of 130 farms to distribute beehives and apiaries requirements, supervise the progress and increase the reproduction of bees and production of various kinds of honey.
The statement noted that 58,530kg of honey has been produced in Qatar since the start of the project until the end of 2020.
