The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation’s (Kahramaa) application has bagged an award from the World Summit on the Information Society Prizes 2021 (WSIS-2021) for ICT Applications (E-recruitment).
The award is sponsored by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the announcement came during the ongoing Virtual World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum, a Kahramaa statement said yesterday.
The app secured first place with its many advantages along with modern and practical design.
“The app won the recognition of the most important experts at the international level. It achieved the lead among the elite of electronic projects that were developed in various parts of the world. These include 10 projects that qualified for the third stage (the voting stage) from Qatar,” a press statement noted.
WSIS-2021 is the most prominent international platform for presenting the most important and successful electronic projects. This year, it hosts a large number of candidates, including government agencies, companies, civil society institutions, international organisations, academic bodies and others.
A total of 10 projects from Qatar qualified for the voting stage while Kahramaa’s app took the lead from among them as the only entity from Qatar by qualifying for the fourth and final stage of the evaluation.
The project was selected from five international projects that were nominated from around the world.
Kahramaa has made employee life much easier by providing most of the human resources services in their hands. The aim is to increase the user experience by creating smarter solutions and automotive services. An employee can submit many requests such as leave request, certificate request, exit permits and loan requests through his phone.
In contribution to WSIS action line C3 " Access to information and knowledge", this solution provides access to data like the latest deals and offers and employee directory. Kahramaa employees also have the advantage of looking into their data history such as leave history, attendance reports, and payslip records.
The app has been developed in line with the objectives of Kahramaa in order to achieve integration between quality and modernisation and improving the user experience while meeting their diverse needs. It features more than 30 digital services developed in co-operation with the human resources department at Kahramaa that provides employees with all their needs and provides them with the required information around the clock. These include the service of sending an official leave request, the service of sending an electronic work card, the service of tracking the employee's working days and hours, the service of requesting and receiving certificates.
These are in addition to the ability to see the latest services that Kahramaa’s partners provide to employees while helping them to obtain exclusive discounts for various services and many others that facilitate and speed up all procedures and improve the speed and efficiency of business flow while raising the productivity of cadres.
The statement pointed out that Kahramaa has been keen to keep pace with the latest technologies and this has been reflected in the satisfaction of the subscribers, the quality of services, fulfillment of social responsibilities and alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.
“The Kahramaa app helped reduce the rates of dependence on traditional paper transactions among employees. Also, it supports electronic means in completing transactions and issuing documents. In the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the app has provided employees with an integrated alternative to personal attendance to complete their transactions while providing them with the ability to send an electronic business card without touching,” the statement added.
