The region’s leading food delivery and q-commerce platform talabat dedicated its app towards giving back during Ramadan.
After tying up with more than 15 charities across the markets it operates in, talabat customers were able to give back to a number of different causes through the app.
In Qatar, talabat partnered with Qatar Charity (QC) to create specially-curated Ramadan menus, through which customers could donate Iftar meals to offer assistance to those in need, and facilitated the value of 51,337 meals donations in Qatar.
The dedicated “Giving back” banner inside the talabat app has seen a surge in customer donations, with a daily record of QR49,000 raised on May 7 alone, adding up to a total of QR620,000 for the QC during the whole Ramadan period, an increase of 210% compared to last year.
“Our customers take such an important stand in donating and helping year after year, and we thrived to be able to give them the platform to do so this Ramadan," talabat managing director Francisco Miguel de Sousa said in a statement.
"Helping to feed people in need has been a major priority for us and we are delighted to have facilitated 51,337 meal donations to the QC,” he added. “We would like to heartily thank our customers for their generous donations, as it would not have been possible without you.”
Consumers can now download talabat on the iOS App Store or Google Play Store to donate to a range of causes.
