Qatar University (QU) has announced a number of safety and precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 for its upcoming graduation ceremonies.
In line with Qatar’s policy, QU, represented by the Facilities and General Services Department - Health, Safety and Environment Office and in co-operation with other relevant departments and the Ministry of Public Health, will apply a number of precautionary measures.
These include the requirement of all attendees testing for Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) one day prior to the event (a number of facilities in QU will be open to administer the test), maintaining physical distance of a minimum of nine sq m for each person. No food or drink will be served at the event with the exception of wrapped dates and sealed water bottles.
The procedure for the annual group photo will also change. Following the Qatar National Anthem, the annual group photo will be taken while graduates stand at their seats. In addition, after the end of the main two ceremonies, the graduates will be required to exit the hall immediately to avoid socialising with each other. For the rest of ceremonies, the graduates will be discharged as soon as they receive the graduation gift.
QU has called on its graduates and attendees to adhere to the safety and precautionary measures that have been put in place. In addition, the university has published on its website a list of instructions to follow during the day of the ceremony. These instructions include: Displaying a green Ehteraz, having a negative result of RAT on the system, temperature check before entering the hall, wearing a mask, sanitising hands, prohibiting touch greetings, avoiding gatherings, prohibiting exchange of personal belongings, complying with the guidance of the organisers, avoiding crowding near entrances or exits, avoiding mingling with Covid-19 positive individuals before the ceremony. The graduate should not attend the ceremony, if he/she feels any influenza symptoms, cough or high temperature.
