The new headquarters of the Police College at Al Sailiya is set to be handed over to the authorities, a senior official has said. Brigadier Dr Mohamed Abdullah al-Muhanna al-Marri, director general of Police College, told local Arabic daily 'Arrayah' that the authorities will receive on July 27 the new headquarters that includes the academic and administrative buildings and their annexes.
The second phase of the college’s new headquarters, including the training field and the graduation field, is scheduled to be delivered during next October and the new headquarters will host the fourth batch graduation ceremony next year.
“The work at the new headquarters is at an accelerated pace. An additional 1,000 workers have been brought to complete the project in a time bound manner with a total number of workers and technicians reaching 2,500," the official explained.
The committee supervising the works of the new headquarters has held several meetings with the companies involved in the project. Brig Dr al-Marri pointed out that an inspection tour was undertaken recently to follow up on the progress of the works. In June 2017, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) signed a contract for a project to construct a building of the Police College in the Mberik area on Salwa Road.
The contract includes constructing various buildings and facilities at an area of 624,000sq m. The first phase includes construction of 19 administrative and service buildings. These include four educational buildings, as well as student barracks, the administrative building, the sports complex, the platform and the main training field.
