Doha Toastmasters Club (DTC), the first toastmasters club in Qatar to achieve the meeting no 550 milestone, marked the event in the presence of international leaders including Richard Peck, president of Toastmasters International; Sunil Kottarathil, Region 11 advisor; and Sonny Varghese, first Region 11 advisor.
The club started in September 1996 but it was chartered on January 1, 1997. It continues to create leaders and help improve communication skills of members by conducting meetings on the first and third Saturday of every month.
P K Mathews, one of the charter members of the club, now based in Canada, spoke of his memories of the club and felicitated the members for reaching the milestone.
Sonny Varghese, another founder members of the club, delivered an inspiring keynote speech on ‘What makes a Leader’ while Rajeswar Sundaresan presented a module on ‘Living the legacy’.
Richard Peck and other leaders including Thayalan K, District director; Manzoor Moideen, District PQD, Rajesh V C, District CGD; Raghavan K, IPDD; Subair Pandavath, Division A director; Anil Nair, Division F director; Sabeena, Division E director; Abdalla Hamdan, Division D director; Jayakumar Menon, past president, and Niloufer Samal, first woman president of DTC; among others addressed the meeting.
The club’s executive committee including president Akash Bhutada, VP-Education Atul Hardas, VP- Membership Smitha Abraham, Treasurer Sundar Vadivelu and Secretary Zaher Saleh organised the meeting that was attended by more than 100 leaders from the toastmaster fraternity in Qatar.
