Al Shaqab Racing’s homebred Salt Lake lost her maiden tag on her third career outing when she won the Prix des Cyprès, a race for three-year-olds over 2600m in Fontainebleau, France, on Wednesday. It also marked her first attempt in claiming class.
The filly, trained by Francis-Henri Graffard and ridden by Pierre-Charles Boudot, initially bided her time at the back of the field. Later, she was clearly travelling very easily when making headway in the final bend. She easily took the measure of her rivals in the straight and asserted by a length-and-three-quarters.
The E. Libaud-trained and Eddy Hardouin-ridden Bluebell was the runner-up. The L. Larrigade-trained and Clement Cadel-ridden Tete D’or was a further head behind in third.
