According to the astronomical calculations, the first day of the Hijric month Shawwal 1442 H and Eid al-Fitr will be on Thursday, May 13, the Qatar Calendar House (QCH) said in a release Sunday. The holy Ramadan 1442H will be ending on Wednesday, May 12.
The official decision regarding the start of Shawwal month remains within the competence of the Moon Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) in Qatar, QCH added.
Executive director of Sheikh Abdullah Al Ansari Complex, Engineer Faisal Mohammed Al Ansari said that the new crescent of Shawwal 1442 H will be born on Tuesday, May 11, at 10pm Doha local time (7pm GMT). Moreover, it's impossible to see or observe the Shawwal crescent on Tuesday evening with the naked eye or astronomical instruments in the skies of Qatar and all countries of the Arab and Islamic region. It is because the new crescent of Shawwal this year will be born after sunset of Tuesday.
