Qatar participated in the opening session of the Council of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), along with representatives of the member states.

Qatar was represented by ambassador of Qatar to Italy and Permanent Representative to the United Nations agencies in Rome Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al-Malki.

These meetings focus on the adoption of a number of important decisions related to combating the Covid-19 pandemic, food supplies in areas subject to food insecurity, the election of the new President of FAO Council, and the approval to anticipate the date of the next conference of the organisation to June 2021.

The Council will analyse financial issues of the organisation and its programmes covering also the Covid-19 pandemic. The meetings are scheduled to continue until April 30, 2021.
