As many as 25 debaters along with their coach – Jaya Majumder – from DPS Modern Indian School (DPS-MIS) participated at the fifth International Schools Debating League (ISDC) recently conducted by Qatar Debate for the first time ever in the English category.
The online international debate tournament was held over five days and was attended by 200 speakers representing 50 teams from more than 35 countries.
The DPS-MIS debaters got the opportunity to volunteer and showcase their managerial skills by assisting the organising committee conduct the tournament smoothly. The coach joined as an adjudicator.
The students were given various tasks such as checking the presence of all teams, timing the debate speeches and ensuring the smooth flow of all debates.
The debaters got an opportunity to observe and learn from some highly competitive debates between some of the top teams of the world.
Various debate motions gave the debaters a better insight into various fields which will surely help them in their future debates.“This was definitely a unique opportunity for the debaters and they look forward to many more,” said DPS-MIS principal.
