Al Meera Consumer Goods Company and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have launched the Ramadan Crescent Festival, a charity initiative to support families in need.

Through the festival, participating brands will donate a part of their total sales on behalf of the customer. The initiative allows customers to shop and donate at the same time in the spirit of giving during the holy month of Ramadan, Al Meera has said in a statement.

The participating brands contributing towards this initiative span local and international brands across an array of products, from consumables to household items. The brands are Siniora, Sadia, Seara, Mazzraty, Arla, KDD, Dandy, Coca-Cola, Heinz, Bahlsen, Weetabix, Kellogg’s, McVitie’s, Panzani, Rafael Salgado, Hello Panda, Magic Time, Green’s, Colgate, Oral-B, Crest, Gillette, Schick, Olay, Neutrogena, OGX, Harpic, Clorox and Lusail.

Speaking on the collaboration, Al Meera said: “We are pleased to announce the launch of the Ramadan Crescent Festival hand in hand with Qatar Red Crescent Society, which aims to help families in need.

“This initiative makes it possible for our customers to contribute easily during their daily or weekly shopping at Al Meera. We are committed to the well-being of our communities and strive to create opportunities where we can help each other out, and what better time to launch such an initiative than in the holy month of Ramadan.”

QRCS added, “We look forward to working alongside Al Meera to raise money for families who need it the most. This year has been an especially difficult time for many people who are still recovering from the shock of the pandemic and, through the Ramadan Crescent Festival, we hope to alleviate some of their burdens.

“We thank everyone who is participating to make this happen, especially customers who will shop with the intention of donating and the brands that have joined the cause and made this possible.”

The collaboration is in line with Al Meera’s "longstanding commitment" to the QRCS, which includes many initiatives. Last year alone, Al Meera and QRCS worked closely together to implement precautionary measures and ensure a safe and secure environment for customers at a challenging time in the Covid-19 pandemic.
