Qatar’s national transport provider Mowasalat (Karwa), in partnership with Qatar Charity (QC), will once again distribute free Karwa SmartCards during Ramadan as part of its social responsibility activities.

The free bus transportation cards will be handed out to workers in conjunction with the distribution of Iftar meals by QC during the holy month, Mowasalat (Karwa) has said in a statement.

Nasser Mamdouh M al-Shammari, Mowasalat (Karwa) Operations manager - Light Transport Services, delivered the rechargeable tickets to Ahmed Omar al-Sherawi, head of the Relations and Social Responsibility section at Qatar Charity.

Al-Sherawi expressed pride in the fruitful and continuous partnership and co-operation with Mowasalat (Karwa), which has provided free Karwa SmartCards for workers who use public transport the most in the country.

He thanked the company for this support, which is a humanitarian gesture that contributes to sharing the joy of Ramadan with labourers and reflects gratitude towards their contribution to building the State of Qatar.

Al-Sherawi said QC is keen to co-operate with institutions and companies that want to implement humanitarian initiatives, within the

framework of their societal responsibility, for the benefit of the community.

Fahad Saad al-Qahtani, Mowasalat (Karwa) CEO, said: “Building community through transport is the driving factor in all of the company’s social responsibility activities, and it is a consequent step to support the most frequent users of our public bus network. Apart from such social engagement, we also collaborate with various ministries and governmental organisations on workshops, lectures and training to promote road and traffic safety.

"Our ultimate responsibility is contributing to the legacy of a safe and environment-friendly traffic infrastructure for future generations."
