MES Indian School celebrated the 46th Annual Day – Mesmerise – on the virtual platform recently with zeal and zest.
Dr Deepak Mittal, ambassador of India to Qatar, was chief guest and K Abdul Karim, president of MES Governing Board, was the guest of honour. The progamme was live-streamed on the school Facebook account.
The chief guest, in his address, complimented the school and its stakeholders for their efforts and resilience shown to carry forward the scholastic and co-scholastic programmes without interruption during these testing times caused by the pandemic. He also extolled the outstanding initiatives of the school towards the holistic development of its students and in promoting academic and sporting talents.
K Abdul Karim appreciated the efforts of the school in equipping the students with skills needed to face the challenges of the world including the ones posed by the pandemic. School Principal Hameeda Kadar presented the school’s annual report, which chronicled the achievements and accolades garnered during the academic year 2019-20.
Annamma Shammy, vice principal and head of Girls’ Section, and Mohammed Ilias, vice principal and head of Boys’ Section officiating, announced the virtual awards and gold medals for the school toppers and mementoes to the meritorious students of CBSE examinations 2019.
Ahmed Isham, general secretary officiating, and Kashif Jaleel, director Academics MES Governing Board, presented virtual long-service awards and citations to the school staff, who have successfully completed 25 years of service in the institution.
The programme had a special mention by the principal for the teachers, who have enabled their students with guidance and motivation to score 100 marks in their respective subjects. Also, a special video presentation highlighting all the achievements of the school mesmerised the audience. It was followed by the captivating cultural performances by the students under the theme – ‘Facing Corona Situation’.
The others present on the occasion included; members of the school governing board, invitees, school officials, parents, teachers and students. Zara Khursheed from the Girls’ Section welcomed the gathering. Reyhan Salim, Junior Section, proposed a vote of thanks. Anver, school cultural convener, along with his team co-ordinated ‘Mesmerise’. The ICT team rendered all necessary technical support for the programme on the virtual platform.
