* NHICC oversees Covid-19 bed management and hospital capacity strategy
HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari yesterday visited the National Health Incident Command Centre (NHICC) at Hamad Medical Corporation’s Ambulance Service headquarters.
During the visit, HE Dr al-Kuwari inspected the progress of work at the centre, which operates 24/7, and met with teams on duty from HMC and Primary Health Care Corporation.
The NHICC works closely with the Ministry of Public Health and other key agencies in Qatar co-ordinating the healthcare system’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic, HMC has said in a press statement.
The NHICC oversees the Covid-19 bed management and hospital capacity strategy. This hub ensures that the healthcare system has sufficient capacity to provide high-quality treatment to all patients with Covid-19 who require medical care, the statement notes.
“As we see the number of Covid-19 cases continue to rise, the National Health Incident Command Centre is fulfilling an important role as the intelligence hub that monitors and co-ordinates our Covid-19 strategy and response. Much of this essential and lifesaving work goes on behind the scenes but it is vital to the daily operation of our health system,” explained HE Dr al-Kuwari. “Covid-19 continues to challenge us on many fronts, but our healthcare workers across the system continue to devote their time and energy to contain this pandemic with unwavering commitment.
“Our clinical and support staff in hospitals and medical centers are working to ensure that all Covid-19 and non-Covid patients are receiving the highest standards of care. At the same time, hundreds of healthcare professionals are working hard to vaccinate up to 25,000 people a day to protect them from the virus."
“Thank you all healthcare workers and frontliners for your tireless work and dedication. I am so proud of all of the work being done across the healthcare sector their focus and dedication has ensured that the health system is ready to meet this additional demand,” HE Dr al-Kuwari said.
