• No in-person attendance in public and private schools, nurseries and universities
* All exams will take place physically in schools with related measures to be announced later

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) Thursday decided to adopt distance learning and suspend the attendance of students of all ages from nurseries to university level, as a result of the developments related to the Covid-19 pandemic, Qatar News Agency reported.
The decision will go into effect starting Sunday.
"Due to the health conditions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic and the increasing numbers of daily cases, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education decided to move to the distance learning model for all students in public and private schools, preschools and universities, and suspend the in-person attendance starting Sunday, April 4th," the ministry said in a statement.
The decision, which was taken in close co-ordination with the Ministry of Public Health, comes as part of the precautionary measures taken to protect the public interest and ensure the health and safety of students, teachers and administrative staff, the MoEHE stressed.
The ministry also decided that administrative and educational staff must continue attending school. All examinations will also take place physically in schools according to the scheduled dates. More procedures to be taken in this regard will be announced later.
The MoEHE stressed that distance learning is an integral part of the educational and academic process, adding that attendance will be recorded in the distance learning model. Students are required to be fully commited to their online lessons for their own benefit, it said, calling on parents to closely follow up with the students' online attendance, co-operate with the teachers and offer their children an appropriate educational environment at home.
The ministry added that the distance learning system that was used in the last academic year as a result of the pandemic is a perfect option for students to continue their education given the current health situation, adding that the system has been updated and developed to build on last year's experience and better fit the needs of students.
The MoEHE noted that all precautionary measures being followed in schools were safe, efficient and effective, and that yesterday's decision provides even more protection to students in the light of the rise in the number of cases, which presents a threat to transmitting the infection to school facilities.
