The fifth virtual forum dedicated to SMEs, organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC), began on Monday by reviewing some of the best regional and international digital transformation practices.
Titled ‘The Digitisation of SMEs: An Alternative to Survive', the first day of the event featured expert speakers from MoTC and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), according to a tweet by the ministry.
The day's proceedings focused on using cloud services in business. Dr Aiman Erbad, associate professor at the College of Science & Engineering, HBKU, explained how ‘Everything as a Service' (EaaS) has revolutionised the startups and how traditional enterprises can compete? He also highlighted a success story from Qatar in this regard.

The second – and final – day of the event will focus on the potential applications of blockchain in business.
