The Ministry of Municipality and Environment concluded Saturday evening the activities of the 8th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) and the 2nd Qatar International Environmental Exhibition (EnviroteQ), which were held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) and lasted for five days.

HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie recognised a number of farmers and sponsors.
The organising committee members were also honoured on the occasion.
The two exhibitions saw the signing of 150 contracts and memorandums of understanding between the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and participants, as well as between local and foreign companies with the aim of increasing production, moving closer towards self-sufficiency, achieving food security, and conducting joint research in various fields and related sectors.
There was also a number of initiatives that were announced.
Some of those included an initiative to encourage the production of tilapia fish in Qatari farms, and an initiative to establish sheep breeding and fattening projects to achieve the highest possible rates of production in line with the highest international standards and to use the best scientific methods in raising local sheep and goats.
Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Exhibition Mohamed Ali al-Khoury, who is also the Director of the Public Parks Department at the ministry, expressed his delight with the success of this year's edition despite the extraordinary circumstances imposed by Qatar.
He praised the visitors' commitment to implementing the precautionary measures announced by the committee.
He added that the two exhibitions will help enhance agricultural productivity in Qatar, and improve self-sufficiency and food security.
He said that the Ministry of Municipality and Environment signed 14 agreements on the sidelines of the exhibitions.
Al-Khoury praised the level of international participation in the event, which saw 200 companies from 42 countries take part.
He noted that the Qatari private sector engaged with its foreign counterparts in signing agreements and memorandums of co-operation.
He noted that the two exhibitions demonstrated once again their prominent role in introducing pioneering innovations and advanced equipment in the fields of agricultural, fish, animal and poultry production, with the aim of advancing agricultural development in the country.
He added that the large participation in this year's event, particularly from foreign companies, reflected the growing international confidence in the promising opportunities and the huge potential available in the Qatari market.
For his part, Head of the scientific and educational forum that accompanied AgriteQ Dr Mohamed Said al-Kuwari said that the forum attracted 1,200 agricultural researchers and scientists.
He added that the forum succeeded to discuss a number of topics related to modern technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
He noted that there were a total of 76 research papers, 30 from Qatar and 46 from abroad.
