The fourth edition of the Longines Qatar Equestrian Tour Hathab will conclude this weekend with the 12th and final round to be held Friday and Saturday at the Longines Indoor Arena of Al Shaqab.
The riders will vie for top honours in in various showjumping classes – Small, Medium Big and Open Tour. After 11 rounds, Nasser al-Ghazali stands atop the Big Tour rankings having garnered 196 points. He has participated in every round thus far and collected the maximum 30 points in three of the eleven rounds including the penultimate round.
He is followed by Saeed Nasser al-Qadi at 182 points, and his brother and winner of His Highness The Amir Sword equestrian Hamad Nasser al-Qadi (177 points). Hamad is also the reigning Hathab champion having claimed the title for the third season last year. A keen contest is expected between these Big Tour riders in the final two rounds this weekend.
In the Medium Tour, last year’s champion Mohamed Khalifa al-Baker continues to lead the tally at 194 points but is very closely followed by Cyrine Cherif at 193 points.
Placed third is Rashid Towaim al-Marri (181) with Mohamed Saeed Haidan next with 166 points.
In the Small Tour, Khalifa Abdulla al-Khaldi (198 point) leads the table followed by Mohamed Nasser al-Qadi (191) and Mohamed Jabor al-Naimi (169). Last year’s champion Mohamed al-Ghazali is distant fourth with 158 points to his credit.
In the teams’ competition, Business Trading Company tops the standings with 194 points, followed by the Limited Edition Cars team (190), Exxon Mobil Team (189), and Qatar Equestrian Federation Team (174).
The mandatory veterinary checks for participating horses were conducted yesterday with the stage now set for the exciting finale. The Longines Qatar Equestrian Tour Hathab is conducted jointly by Qatar Equestrian Federation and Al Shaqab (Member, Qatar Foundation) and backed by The Social & Sport Contribution Fund.
