Ideal Indian School (IIS) organised the Teachers’ Enrichment Programme through a virtual platform recently on the topic 'Understanding Brain Development in Foundational Years'.
Dr Swati Popat Vats, president, Podar Education Network, Early Childhood Association and Association for Primary Education & Research, was the resource person from India.
Dr Swati enlightened the teachers on the various stages of brain development in the early ages of children. She said it is important for teachers and parents to understand that maturation of the brain influences learning readiness.
For teachers, this is especially important when designing lessons and selecting which strategies to use. Good nutrition and healthy routines are important to the brain’s developmental process, she added.
Addressing the teachers, IIS principal Syed Shoukath Ali said the early stages of brain development are important as they are the foundation that shapes children's future health, happiness, growth, learning and life success.
Teachers from other Indian schools in Qatar also participated in the programme.
Ronnie Elizabeth welcomed the gathering and Anwar Sadath proposed a vote of thanks.
