HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani affirmed that Qatar seeks to invest in projects in Iraq that provide job opportunities.
HE the minister said in a joint press conference held in Baghdad Wednesday with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq Fuad Mohamed Hussein that the meetings he had with President of the Republic of Iraq Dr Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi were fruitful. He added that he conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the leadership and the brotherly Iraqi people.
HE Sheikh Mohamed added that during his visit to Baghdad , he discussed ways to develop and strengthen economic relations between the two countries and announced the agreement to reactivate economic co-operation between Qatar and Iraq.
HE the minister expressed his aspiration to expand the horizons of investment and economic co-operation with the sisterly Republic of Iraq and indicated that there is an opportunity to support the stability of Iraq by providing projects and creating job opportunities, pointing out that these projects will be of benefit to the two peoples and countries.
He stressed the existence of consensus in viewpoints regarding the regional situation, stressing that Iraq is an important factor in supporting the stability of the region due to its important pioneering role.
For his part, the Iraqi foreign minister said that Iraq has very close relations with Qatar and that they will work to activate the agreements between the two countries.
