Under the patronage of the Embassy of India, the Indian Sports Center (ISC) Head of Golf Rukkaiya Pachisa ceremoniously concluded Matchday-2 of the 4th India Cup Golf Week with a Grand Finale Tournament and a gala dinner in the presence of dignitaries and guests.
Thirty-four golfers participated in a stroke play tournament on the 18 hole Championship Course at the Doha Golf Club last weekend. Players were grouped into Flight-A, Flight-B and Ladies Division.
Saad Kazi played flawless golf to be crowned India Cup champion with a net score of 71, ahead of Vineet Shekhar who finished in the runner-up spot with a net score of 75.
Dr. Amitav Mitra won Flight-B with a net score of 69, edging out Manoj Megchiani who finished runner-up with a net score of 73.
Yohann Pedder was declared ‘Gross Winner’ with a score of 78, beating Anwar Ali on countback who also finished with a score of 78. Rukkaiya Pachisa was delared winner in the Ladies Division with net a score of 73.
Special Prizes went to Ambassador Jasminco Pozderac of Serbia for ‘longest drive’ (Flight-A), Anwar Ali for ‘nearest to pin’ (Flight-A) , Clark White for ‘longest drive’ (Flight-B), and Sheji Valiakath for ‘closest to pin’ (Flight-B).
ISC President Dr. Mohan Thomas hosted a prize distribution dinner for all golfers and guests. Chief Guest Dr. Deepak Mittal (Ambassador of India), felicitated the winners. Guests of honor Jasminco Pozderac (Ambassador of Serbia), Chang Mo Kim (Ambassador of Korea), and Captain Mohan Atla (Defence Attache at the Embassy of India) gave away prizes to the winners in the presence of ISC Officials.
ISC thanked Tournament Director Sanjay Jain, coordinator Manoj Megchiani and his team for ensuring a smooth and well organized Tournament. ISC Vice President Sheji Valiakath thanked sponsors Land Royal, Rusiya Group and ITI Group, as well as media partners Radio Olive-Suno and QBS 97.5 for their support.
The week-long event witnessed 68 golfers between the ages of 14 -74 participate in the biggest ISC event so far. ISC encourages community participation in all sports of all ages with the motto “Sports for fitness, sports for life”.
