Ooredoo, Mastercard, QNB announce launch of Mastercard contactless 'Tap & Go', virtual prepaid cards

Ooredoo Qatar, Mastercard and QNB have announced the launch of the first Ooredoo Money virtual prepaid card and contactless ‘Tap & Go’ Mastercard cards in Qatar.
In line with Qatar National Vision 2030, Ooredoo is committed to further driving digitalisation of the economy and ensuring the rollout of the latest in digital payment solutions, providing consumers with quick, easy and convenient options to perform transactions, the company has said in a statement.
Consumers will be able to apply for the Mastercard virtual prepaid card directly using the Ooredoo Money App. The new product enables immediate issuance of digital cards and allows users to perform safe and secure online payments.
Through this partnership, Ooredoo Money will also be issuing Mastercard’s contactless ‘Tap & Go’ physical cards, enabling contactless and frictionless payments using secure Near Field Technology (NFC) while shopping anywhere in the world. Users will be able to issue contactless ‘Tap & Go’ physical cards from Ooredoo Money shops in the coming weeks.
