To commemorate the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country's embassy - represented by ambassador Haris Lukovac -and several members of the staff as well as the Bosnian community living in Qatar recently joined the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)’s Public Parks Department in a tree-planting event at Old Airport Park.
A number of trees suitable for the local climate were planted during the event, which was organised in strict compliance with Covid-19 prevention guidelines.
“Qatar and Bosnia are two brotherly countries that are continuously strengthening their relationship. I would personally like to thank MME and the Qatari authorities under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani for all the efforts in developing our ties so far," said ambassador Lukovac.
“What better way is there to mark important occasions like this than doing something that benefits the entire society and our planet? We are very grateful to the MME for giving us the opportunity to take part in developing Doha while celebrating Bosnia,” said Haris Alisic, a community member.
“This is just one of the many activities that the Bosnian community in Qatar has taken part in so far while many more are being planned. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the MME for recognising the importance of this co-operation and the way the Bosnian community can contribute to the further development of the State,” added Mirsad Selimovic, another community member.
