Qatar welcomed the formation of the Libyan National Unity Government headed by Abdel Hamid al-Dbeibeh, after gaining the confidence of the House of Representatives.
In a statement Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Qatar's support for the new government in order to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Libyan people for development, stability and prosperity. It expressed Qatar's hope that the new government would pave the way for a comprehensive political solution that preserves the unity of Libyan territories, respects the rights of the Libyan people, and establishes a state with rule of law and civil institutions.
