Chinese ambassador to Qatar Zhou Jian on Sunday visited the Gulf Times office where he reviewed the historical relationship between Qatar and China. Gulf Times editor-in-chief Faisal Abdul Hameed al-Mudahka received Zhou Jian and gave him a memento. The ambassador, who expressed joy over the reception, said that the two countries maintain good diplomatic relations despite the geographical distance.

While reviewing the co-operation between the two countries, he said some projects are set to be implemented in Qatar, which includes the Panda Park at Al Khor. The ambassador explained his country's historical bond with pandas, which are the oldest animals in China.

The ambassador also spoke about the development of diplomatic relations between Qatar and China while highlighting Qatar's medical aid to China during the Covid-19 pandemic last year. He said Qatar Airways flights were sent carrying medicines at a time when Covid-19 had gripped China.

He also noted that Qatar sent medical aid to many needy countries.

“Qatar is still sending Covid-19 vaccines to the needy countries during the tough time that the world is going through," the ambassador said.
