Only 8% of the applications from private schools for a fee hike have been approved, an official of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education said. "The maximum fee hike is 2%," Omar al-Nama, assistant undersecretary for Private Schools Affairs, told local Arabic daily Arrayah. He explained that a fee hike is granted for very strict reasons such as a proven financial deficit or loss, proven by the approved records of the school, or shifting to a new campus on a higher rent.
