In 1997, he obtained a PhD in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University. Dominic Genetti, president and general manager for ExxonMobil Qatar, said: “Dr al-Sulaiti’s contributions to ExxonMobil Research Qatar over the years have been instrumental, significant and meaningful. His extensive knowledge of water engineering and environmental management have supported our long-standing partnerships in the community, helping expand our global footprint in a safe and reliable manner through leading technology.
"We have all benefited from his track record of strategic thinking and focus on execution, and value his leadership and insights in shaping and building ExxonMobil Research Qatar’s team, and protecting Qatar’s unique natural environment. I am thankful for Dr al-Sulaiti’s service to ExxonMobil and wish him and his family all the best following his retirement.”
“It has been an honour and privilege to lead ExxonMobil Research Qatar over the years, from a successful research team to a renowned and trusted research centre,” Dr al-Sulaiti said. “I am proud of all we have accomplished together with our partners in Qatar in support of the energy industry and in protecting the environment. ExxonMobil Research Qatar’s future prospects are vast, and I wish my team continued success with their work – I’m proud of each and every one of them.”
Dr Jayanth Balasubramanian, EMRQ’s LNG technology research lead, will take over from Dr al-Sulaiti as acting research director. Dr Balasubramanian joined EMRQ in 2019 and has over 14 years of experience with ExxonMobil, in technical and organisational leadership roles, across a range of functions.
He has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's in Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras.
